How do I book an initial free 20 minute consultation with you?
To book a free consultation simply email me via alyiahanifpsychotherapy@gmail.com with convenient days and times for you and I will send a Teams invite that is suitable for us both. I aim to respond to queries within 48 hours. We’ll discuss what has made you decide to look for therapy at this point and how I might be able to help. I will ask for some basic information and answer any questions you have.
There is no pressure to commence therapy with me following the consultation.
What happens in the first therapy session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to agree our therapy contract, set goals, and for you to get comfortable with the process. I will ask some questions to understand your background and tailor the approach to your needs. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure space to start building trust.
How long does therapy last and how often should I come?
Each person's situation is unique so you will decide what feels right for you and how long you want the therapy to last.
I feel it's important to come to therapy weekly to begin with, as this allows us to build the therapeutic relationship and allows you to feel supported in what may be a daunting emotional journey.
We will review progress regularly to ensure that you are getting what you need from therapy.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, with standard professional limits. We can discuss this in the first session and I can explain further so that you feel comfortable. Details of my confidentiality and data protection policy form part of our contract and will be given to you when starting therapy.
What are your working hours?
Currently I am able to offer sessions online on weekday evenings. I may also be able to accommodate occasional weekend sessions by arrangement.
Is there anything else I should know?
Therapy isn't something that is done to you. It is something that happens in the relationship between us; it requires courage, commitment and a willingness to try something new. I don't have the answers but I believe that you do - I'll bring my experience and expertise to help you to understand the patterns of behaviours, thoughts and emotions you repeat and where they come from.
What if I need urgent help?
Therapy is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger call 999.
For urgent support call NHS 111 (option 2 for mental health)
